Last year's fatal outbreak of hantavirus has not kept crowds from enjoying the beauty of Yosemite National Park. The popular Mist trail which leads to Half Dome sees approximately 2,000 hikers a day. Every year recently fatalities have occurred when hikers entered swift waters of the Merced River and drowned or were swept to their death over waterfalls. Four million visited the park in 2012.
